In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Edwards Realty Company, a leading real estate management, investment and development firm, launched an innovative pop-up program (“Pop Local”) designed to support small businesses with 3 months of free rent, marketing support and funds to build out a brick-and-mortar space. Pop Local presented a unique opportunity for the winning business to test out their products & services in a traditional retail space.

Edwards Realty Company engaged Kaleidoscope Management Group (KMG) to provide marketing & communications support including a comprehensive marketing plan for applicant recruitment, social media, website development and the development of unique graphic collateral including a dedicated website, ShopPopLocal.com.
The program received an overwhelming response and, as a result, the winning business, Feel Beautiful: Jewels by Sophia Forero, became a permanent tenant. The success of the program led to a 30% increase in occupied space at the center. The momentum built around the property from this initiative led to the addition of 9 new businesses to Burr Ridge Village Center, accounting for an additional 60,000+ SF of occupied retail space.
Following the success of the Pop Local program in Burr Ridge, Edwards Realty Company rolled out the program, with KMG’s support, to two additional markets, similarly resulting in pop-up tenants that later converted to full-time businesses at the center; Series Six at The Boulevard (St. Louis, MO) and Pomp & Chic at Orland Park Crossing (Orland Park, IL).
Sophia Forero Designs creates jewelry designed to make her customers feel beautiful through rich colors, texture and styles. Sophia has been making jewels for famous clients, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama and Senator Olympia, since 2002.
